Starting to show its age

The Z4 is really starting to show that it is 16 years now,

I am usually able to stay on top of the of repairs, issues etc. as and when they crop up, but these past 6 months issues have been coming up faster than I can get them corrected.

  • My GM5 currently requires the relays replacing, just haven’t found the time to be without it for a week.
  • The door lock is becoming stiff, likely due to additional use because of the above point.
  • The airbag light has re-appeared on the dash, I assume that the occupancy sensor bypass device fitted last year has packed in.
  • Water has started entering the cubby holes in the sides of the boot. Usual checks completed, nothing obvious found yet, these dark nights and cold evenings don’t help!
  • Third brake light replaced earlier this week.
  • The steering wheel now clicks when rotating past centre when driving.
  • 6" crack in the windscreen now also.
  • These final 3 issues have all happened in the past 2 weeks.
Nothing majorly expensive or complicated but my list just seems to be growing!

I know the feeling. Before I bought the Zed, I was spending upwards of £400 every year to get my '94 MX5 / Eunos through the MoT, mostly bodywork issues. At least the body on the Zed is sound, but still spending quite a bit on it. £500+ this year on a new sump, screws & gaskets. Oh, and a new battery.

I've no issues with spending the money on it to get it right (within reason!) The recent number of issues and lack of time is the main frustration
