Starting Click Sound Relay-Starter?

hello all,
my car starts fine when cold but when I drive it and it is warm is sometimes dosent start and I get a single click sound when turning the key.

key is good
Battery is new
Alternator is 1 year old
car has 60K miles,
I am first trying to figure out if the starter relay is bad but dont know if it is in the engine bay passenger side or in glove compartment.
I want to test the relay then will just assume starter solenoid/motor is bad

I have had 8 bmws thus know these cars pretty well but love fixing stuff myself

does anyone know where the started relay is?

Could be the ground earth strap is old and corroded. It’s easy to see and replace. Bolted to your engine and chassis. Normally down the left side of the engine. Metallic one inch wide strap about 6 inches long. If it’s corroded, then your starter can start playing up.
