Starting/battery issue?

I think the battery maybe 'shot' on the Z4 (it looks like the original so that makes it 12 years old). :thumbsdown:

The problem is no charge unless I attach my Ctec battery charger for 10 minutes then she fires up. :thumbsup:

My thinking is a new battery will solve the problem?

12 years must be a record - definitely a new battery :)
 
That battery has done well! Do you have the recondition mode on your Ctek? Maybe worth a punt if any lead sulphate has built up over the past 12 years.

Out of interest, how have you maintained The battery? Regular trickle charging? Is the car used all year?
 
Original 2003 battery in mine but on a ctek if it's left for more than a few days, I surely can't see it lasting much longer.
 
My 04 was on orginal battery until december this year- died due to lack of use. 11 years isnt bad i guess :thumbsup: kept it for prosperity. :D
 
And I'm worried about mine @ 7 years old, still got many more years to go :lol:

I think if I didn't buy my ctec this year it most probably would of died.

The car is new to me, so I don't know how/if the battery has been maintained properly. The car is used very infrequently at the moment, but regular use will help when I fit a new battery.

Is the recondition mode on the crew the image with the half charged battery?

Mines as flat as a pancake today, I thought the roof was slow the other week, must've been the battery giving up the ghost :D

Put it on charge today but I'm thinking it's time for a change, it's the original AGM that's on atm, on the bright side a battery is much cheaper than a new roof motor :lol: :thumbsup:

had similar battery in old car for 12 years, always fired up on daily use, wasnt till this year when it was in minus temps it struggled and once needed a jump.

New battery fitted and car is back to good health.

Just in time for drive into Wales in glorious sunshine this afternoon :driving:
