Starter wont run.

It began with that the starter motor draw the engine slowly for a couple of times. Thought it was a bad battery but its almost new and full. Days later it wont even hook in.
I have checked/ replaced: battery and ignition switch.
Whats next to check? Starter itself?

Classic case of starter failing without any advance warning, had it with mine on the 2.5, good one day and nothing the next day, gave it a good tap with a hammer that brought it back to life but after a few test starts it packed up all together. Easy to put a new one in just disconnect the battery before doing anything. Ratchet spanner in the holding bolts works well to get it out, don't overtighten the electrical connections and break them when reattaching the leads. Sourced my replacement from Carparts4less on line, RTX brand, been fine since.

Sounds like the starter. Literally had the exact same thing happen to me on Friday.

I'd disagree with colb though, it's not an "easy" job to put a new one in. It's not impossible, but saying it's easy is a bit of a red herring.

Edited: Didn't realise you had an E85 with the M54, I have no idea how easy or difficult it is on that.

It's easy.
Best to disconnect the battery as you're working fairly blind on the terminals and it's surprising how strong the weld can be between a 10mm spanner and an engine

Thanks, tomorrow the starter is going out.
Guess i can test it with 12v direct outside the car aswell? Remove or keep intake manifold?

No need to remove the intake manifold, enough room there to just disconnect it and undo the bolts at the rear to extract it.
My e85 2.5 took me 20mins to change, its that easy.

Did mine on my 2.2 and found it a piece of cake, plenty of room as no sound gen thingy to get in the way.

Ok. Lots of work building pool and others this summer so nothing on the z till now.

The starter engine is out. 15min job by the way. Its dead when attaching cables to it. It should turn as in picture right?
So i need a new one to replace?

Yep, RTX is what I used after recommendations on here and works perfectly. Only cost around £40.00 after giving the old one in.

Yup. Euro Car Parts do an RTX one that works perfectly well without breaking the bank.
Oh sorry, forgot where you're based.
Still RTX is a good make if you can one

Ok. Had a good weekend in the garage. Changed the starter, wire and others for the window regulator, wishbone bushings, oil and filter.
Noted that under the car I might be missing some covers, do I?
