Starter Replacement

Bank holiday not exactly as planned.
Started car in the garage and it groaned.
Parked outside and starter just clicking.
Battery perfect, so off for a new starter from Europarts.
Right pita and had to replace it outside as could not move car. Nice as only -2c...

All done and runs perfectly, but now have to reset airbag light as I left the crash sensor disconnected to the battery..

Ah well - I will run a near 14 year old car...

Exactly, is a pain when unplanned though.

Did mine while I had the manifold off to replace the ccv, don't think I'd have fancied it otherwise.

I'm hoping I've just fixed (touch wood) my intermittent no crank no start issue. After replacing the starter and finding it hadn't cured the issue I have now replaced the ignition switch - £30 quid and a 10 min job to do and so far so good.

Hopefully you went for the Bosch reconditioned starter and not the RTX unit - I've yet to read a good review of the RTX ones.

Mine went on an international Z meeting.... :?
So plenty of people around to give me a push start when we went on...its probably somewhere on youtube/facebook/or such
But I still advice people to change out the starterbrushes out of precaution before the starter goes (and they all go somehwere in the lifespan of 10-15 years)

Go on then, on my auto E85, where is the starter!! I went the other way round, changed the switch (luckily only a fiver delivered) but need to hit the starter with a hammer

What engine have you got ?

If it's a 3.0i it's accessed from the passenger side under the inlet, remove the rubber inlet pipes for better access.

Yes, it's the 3.0i. I'm really going to be stupid here, what inlet pipes are you talking about and from above or below?
