The failure prone BMW Valeo starter motor on the Z4MR died on me away from home over the weekend. The symptom was the starter solenoid clicking but the motor wouldn’t rotate. Managed to get a bump start and made my way home.
Anyway, decided a fit an uprated 1.6kW Denso based starter I found on eBay which I covered in heat resistant matting I had in the garage to protect it from the heat radiating from the block. The engine turns over much better now and seems to fire up quicker.
