I have a 2004 2.2, I believe the starting motor has given up.

Anybody know how easy these are to replace, or is anybody on here local to Bristol that can do it?

Thanks :)

I bought a new Starter motor from GSF in Easton, just off the Lawrence Hill Roundabout. It worked out about £80 after getting £60 refund on the old motor.

I took my car to Ramp it up and did it there myself, using their bay and tools, plus a bit of help. Its bolt off-bolt on, but just make sure you disconnect the battery first as its a big voltage connection there !

I suspect Danstarr's old man would do it. He's a mechanic and is Nailsea way I think.

Great, where is the motor actually located?
I've got one at GSF for £140 and they'll take £60 for old one, so will pay £80..
Or EuroCarParts £50.99 and i keep the old motor (guessing it will be poorer quality), which would you recommend?

Central at Back of the engine, but best accessed from the nearside. Its got a fat red cable going to it, a neg, plus a small earth.

I fitted mine laying on top of the engine. only an hours job

I Wouldnt have thought you could shut the bonnet with it there. Why did you put it where it belongs ??

I could ask my dad he's been a mechanic all his life. Only works 2 days a week now and still moans about it
