Starter Motor Recall Parts Shortage

Have had to wait 4 weeks for the parts to arrive, now to confirm when it’s to go in. BMW Edinburgh

Had the starter motor replaced a few weeks back, all good and well. Usual health check also carried out with walk around film sent showing car was in great condition.

Customer service was excellent to be fair, along with free coffee and treats whilst I waited on the job to be completed. As I was about to leave I was asked to complete a survey which I duly did to share my experience. Then to my astonishment a few days later I received an email from the service manger apologising for the inconvenience the recall was and as goodwill would I like to select a package to the value of £350… This was a choice of 5 options, from golf gear, sports bottles, bmw suitcases, bmw m sport cases, kids bmw branded toys, up to the advanced car eye 3.1 but had to pay labour for installation.

Was taken aback at their kindness as most I’ve ever had for a recall before was a bottle of champagne from Lexus… Well done Eastern BMW

My booking for tomorrow has just been cancelled, due to a lack of parts!
Apparently the dealer was sent a batch of them but had more bookings than expected since the recall started. I’m rebooked to mid-December as the anticipate they will be OK by then…

I’ve got mine booked in again for this Friday… fingers crossed this time!
