Starter motor quote

Lately my starter motor has been a bit noisy after starting the car up, only just after the car had fired up, read in here its a common problem. So i called a local Indy in the area i have been quoted £319 for a Bosch unit, price includes part, labour and VAT does this sound about right?

Approx retail for the part is circa £220 so that price is pretty good for fitting etc.

However I would check around you will prob find a better price, but if your confident in your Indy stick with it.

The Bosch unit from Eurocarparts is £161 using promo code SPRING30 so it might be worth asking the cost to fit it if you bought one yourself.

buy the part as mentioned above for £161 and fit it yourself dude.
It takes about 20 minutes and involves just basic tools.
REALLY easy job - and I should know, as I did it in almost complete darkness!

Cheers for the helpful replies, spoke to my dad about fitting it ourselfs and were going to give it a go over the next week or so.

sk93 do you have the newer or older 3l? Just asking as i know the engines are different.

older.. but on the N52 blocks (facelift zeds), isn't it a case of just unbolting the intake manifold and lifting it out of the way?

Admittedly, that's a tad harder than mine, so if you can get it fitted for a £100 or so, and you're not up to removing the intake, I think that's fair enough :)

sorry for the confusion!
