Sadly I think it will be quite some time before life returns to how it was in the beginning of March. :(

You just need to find plenty of essential journeys to make!

The 335 is on the drive with it’s winter wheels and tyre set - I’m seriously thinking along the lines of not changing them to the summer set this year.

No sympathy John - you could have joined a real Service like the Air Force and flown everywhere.... nothing like getting some kip stretched out on a cargo pallet in the back of a Herc while getting to your destination.
Not like 'hot bunking' that squiddies moan about but secretly enjoy :P

As I recall, on HMS Ajax, there were 24 bunks around the mess square, which was smaller than that and also our lounge. :)

The DC10s were bad enough. Why were the seats the wrong way around. :? Recon it was because the air force never knew which way they were supposed to be going. :P

Don’t give me that the RAF are civilians in a uniform and the Navy never yompt anywhere nor lived in the field. You should try the army to understand what hardship is all about!

You mean VC10?
I spent some time on them at St Athan, running the upper fuselage team on the Major maintenance.
The seats were put in backwards as it is much safer in an accident or emergency braking. You simply sit upright.
All aircraft would be fitted that way round if the public weren't so sensitive about heading everywhere backwards.

And on accommodation...........when I joined 39 Sqn (Canberras), I was welcomed to 39 (DDT) Sqn. Don't Do Tents. :D

Yeah, but in the army the officers send the men to battle.
In the Navy they all go together.
But in the RAF, the men send the officers

Why would anyone join up seeking hardship? Any of the Services would give it to you if you went looking for it
