Standard Z4C spec

Hi everyone

I am planning on buying a Z4 coupe within the next couple of months - I have fallen in love with these machines!

Just wondering what standard features I can expect on all Z4 coupes. Are heated + electric seats, cruise control, parking sensors all standard features?

Hello

No they are all extras. Good luck with your search though, I've just bought my first Z4 before Christmas and had the top down nearly every time I've drove it (bearing in mind it's my daily drive).

E85/86 Zeds are a fairly poverty spec out of the box, apart from the m sports seats being electric on the 3.0 cars you can literally buy a car with auto climate control, power steering, central locking, basic stereo and electric windows and that is it in terms of comforts. No xenons, sat nav, pdc, cruise, heated seats, hell on the convertibles I guess we are lucky in this country all the roofs are fully electric, which is true in some overseas markets!

Well that's a shame. I'm very specific about what I'm looking for so thought I may be able to rule some stuff out of my 'must have' extras if they were standard.

In that case it may not be such a big deal :)

Extras-wise I want heated sports seats, parking sensors, xenons, bluetooth and the upgraded speakers

I am looking for a manual black or grey E86, red leathers with the piano black trim, preferably between 50k-60k but as long as it has been well maintained I would be fine with slightly higher mileage.

Not sure if I'll find this dream car of mine, so may need to compromise on some of the above/think about retrofitting :(
 
I bought my 07 coupe with 3 previous owners on it in 2012, making my the 4th owner before it had turned 5 years old.

After nearly 4 years of ownership I traded it in, so now in it is a 7 year and 10 month old car with 4 previous owners which isnt so bad.

My old Scirocco had 8 previous owners when I got it (16 years old) but by that stage it was irrelevant. I sold it 4 years later again.

So basically I dont believe it makes a huge difference, as long as the car is right, in good condition and at the right price. It needs to tick all your boxes though.
 
These type of cars can be a bit hardcore for some. This is especially applicable to the e85/86 zeds with their rock hard suspension particularly on runflat tyres. A lot of people buy them but cant live with them on a daily basis, or simply buy them as a summer toy and move them on come the autumn. Now if it was a more mainstream 320d or something it might put me off but 6 owners in 9 years is an average of 18 months each. The Uk carpark (as the bods call it) average is 2 years so all in ain't too bad maybe 1 extra on the average and certainly not high for these cars.

I have had a look but the thing putting me off is 5 previous owners - I'm thinking in terms of resale value down the line. Price seems a bit high taking this into consideration

I think everyone would prefer as few owners as possible but as the others have said, sport cars change hands quite often.
If it ticks all of your boxes I wouldn't let it put you off. IIRC the last couple of owners were forum members here.
 
Can anyone advise on how quickly these cars sell? Do they tend to sit around for a while or are they snapped up within days of advertising?

I won't be in a position to complete the purchase until next month so not sure if there will be a completely new batch up at that time

Depends on 3 factors:

Time of year
Value for money
Need for your spec

My car didnt shift for 3 months so I managed to haggle £1500 off it. When it came time to sell I had the same issue and its still not selling now (via the dealer). Having said that. Cars priced at trade prices (or slightly above) do tend to sell quickly. High spec low mileage cars will obvious sell quicker.
 
Convertible market starts to pick up as early as Jan these days in terms of CAP trade/retail prices as dealers start to stock stuff they wouldnt say in October ahead of the eternally optimistic "we could have a good summer" Not sure this is as applicable to the coupe but sportcars do sell better in the warmer months so do bear that in mind. As others have said price/spec matter, as does colour. Black, Silver and Grey always sell better than Blue and Red on these, that's not to say there aren't some nice blue and red ones out there its just on mass most go black, silver, grey over them.
