Standard seats- help?

Morning all

I’ve started to strip down my standard motorised heated seats to replace the back of the drivers seat- leather has ripped

I’ve got from Dave a nice new set of seats inbound however these are not heated

I’ve got the drivers seat out, back detached. Now this is where I assumed I’d be able to see, remove and move over the heated seat elements from the old to the new.

But- it looks like the elements are sewn into the leather facing of the seat back I’m removing

Has anyone done this in the past and can give guidance?

Not done it. I've replaced the foam but that was all.

If you are scrapping your old leather, why not cut it away and stitch the element in place?

Was hoping I could take the decent back off the new seats and slide in the element, not have to unpick it all to get the heated part in!

Wasn't sure if I was reading it wrong though and there is a better way of getting the elements in place

Ok I have a definitive answer to the question

No you can’t swap the pads out- they are very sewn into the leather facing

So I need to find a way to retrofit a heat pad into the back of the new donor seat

Kept wiring etc in place so fingers crossed

Stuart, if you recall I had heating elements swapped to my seats from donor seats. Now I don't know how it was done as I used a guy in Loughborough. However it did include the heating in the backs & the seats.
As an alternative could you get heating elements from fleabay & connect them to the original wiring :scratchhead: . I think someone on here used ebay for the elements for a retrofit. See you tomorrow .

Thats what I'm planning Dave- I reckon one pad in the right place on the new back will suffice

They are John lewis rugs- the missus still hasn't noticed they have migrated to the garage

Hi Bigwinn, If you do use aftermarket heating pads, remember you will need to use 10 KOhm NTC thermistors to control the heat. You may be able to dig the ones out of those old seats.
