Hey guys,

I am coming up to my Inspection 1 Service and wondered how much this should cost me!

I have been quoted £254 + approx £50 for brake fluid change by a local BMW garage and just wondered whether this is an appropriate price or not???

Any advice would be much appreciated :)

P.S. Dealer or local garage?! I have extended warranty (Car Care Plan) and don't want to void my warranty by using a local garage...

I used BMW for an Inspection 1 plus first MOT; total cost £300 which included the brake fluid change. I would certainly question compulsory use of a BMW dealer by CCP. Provided the service is carried out on time and to approved standards then this sholud be sufficient - although proving this in the event of a claim may pose and issue. Certainly worth checking as several specialist dealers that advertise in the BMW mags and BMW Club magazine offer cheaper service cost options.

in the states, inspection one costed me about US$500 flat (everything included, whatever that means!)

Thanks, been around the other sites for a while (10 years!), Now on my fifth zed  (3.0l coupe), (2 Z3s and 3 Z4s) and thinking about my sixth

I'm impressed at £185 for an inspection I. I had to bid them down from £350!

£295 was the cheapest geographically between Wolverhampton and Oxford (main dealers).

Rgds,

My local dealer quoted me about £320 but I got a specialist to do it for £190 excluding brake fluid which they did a few months later for about £50 I think. You need to weigh up how important a dealer stamp is vs a better service from a specialist. I think there gave been posts on here claiming that dealers don't even remove wheels to check brakes properly to try and keep the man hours down, while a good specialist will give it a proper full inspection including removing wheels etc.

... and also vice versa so you have to be careful, every human at least can have a bad day.

It's a big thing to keep your dealer stamps for warranty, even if OEM parts are used. I think the rules changed about this meaning you can have an Indi do it with oem parts but keep the warranty, but for arguments and confidence sake I'd never do it just in case you end up in a blame chase.

My rule has always been services at the dealer, maintenance at the indies.. eg brake disc replacement. You can haggle a service price down, you can never alter the stamp. :)
