Standard Model Vs SE?

Hi Guys

As you might have seen from a previous topic I started, I'm looking to buy a Z4 around April next year. Being a bit of a sports car virgin, I'm trying to get my head around the different specs, specifically the difference between the standard model and the SE, can anyone enlighten me?

http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/specs/summary.aspx?model=74&page=3

As this is going to be my sole car, running costs are a big deciding factor for me which will sadly rule out the 2.5l and 3.0l - can anyone tell me is there a big jump in running cost/performance between the 2.0l and 2.2l zeds to run? And if going for a 2.2l, am I better to go towards the facelift model and look at the si model with increased bhp? (correct me if I've got any of that wrong!)

Thanks

Pete

there is no 2.2 facelift..... the 2.2 was replaced by the 4cl 2.0.

between the 2.0 and the 2.2 i'd pick the 2.2 as its a 6cl.. however the 2.0 will prob return better mpg.. esp as its a 6sp too.

In terms of SE i think they often provide additional trim (not sure exactly what on a 2.0), sport will have eveything in SE + additional bits.

I did see a Z4 with fabric seats and non automatic climate... first time i'd seen one in such a basic spec.. i suspect that was a non SE.

+1 on the better mpg, taking my old 3 series to pick up the zed it was at 3500 rpm at 70mph-coming back the zed was showing 2000 rpm at 70 mph(i was in 6th gear)-showing 50.4 on the obc :)

If you are going for a 2.0 i would go for the sport version with the facelift (easiest way is to look at the rear lights.), you get a lot more as standard,Heated Sports Seats, 18" wheels, MFSW and six speed box plus some really nice 'M' badges to upset the purists and i presume you will be getting the roadster not the hatchback( sorry i meant coupé) version :fuelfire:

You can then look to getting the best add ons such as wind deflector and your preferred choice of sound system and sat nav over and above that.
But as many will tell you here make a wish list and look for the best offer per money you can find. Then enjoy the experience :driving:

If i had a choice now though i would get the 3.0 M but i don't so i am happy with what i have got.

facelift sport trim includes sport seats, they can be half leather and so all leather, heating them and PDC are all on the options list.

Two of my friends have 2 litre cars one is an SE pre-facelift the other is a sport post facelift. Both are really nice cars but if you can afford a facelift car I'd go for that.

Heated seats are an option, not standard fit.

I apologise for being a little ignorant, but could someone kindly explain to me the difference between 2.0l and 2.0l SE. I was under the impression that they are one and the same?

Thanks

petertodd24, there is a link to the original brochures in my sig. Let us know your budget so it can be narrowed down to pre- or post-facelift.

Doesnt seem like there was much different between a 2.0i and 2.0i SE, looking at the spec sheet the SE has a trip computer, fog lights, electric hood and single exhaust compared to the 2.0i non SE twin exhaust.

Was the non SE 2.0i even available in the UK as ive never seen one?

I had an SE facelift with upgraded alloys and comfort pack. If i were to buy another Z4 or any BMW i'd always go for an M Sport, the Z4 M Sport doesnt have as much extra as other BMW's but it is worth it.
