Looking to pickup a standard OEM back box for an E86.

For ease of collection, ideally within 45 min drive of central London, or in South West near Exeter / Plymouth.

Cheers.

Happy to travel a bit further to collect or arrange a courier if someone further afield has one collecting dust somewhere

Hiya,

I’ve got a full E86 exhaust (from manifold) that I would be willing to sell. I’m in between Portsmouth and Southampton if you are willing to collect?

It has one of the Warren Engineering bypass pipes on but I have the other if you wanted to fit both.

Let me know if you’re interested.

Damn, pretty much exactly the time you posted this I was merrily driving down the M3/A303 from London to Devon where my car is going into the garage for some work - it could have been the perfect opportunity to make a slight detour down to you :headbang:

Anyway... yes, definitely might be interested. What’s the bypass thingy?

I've got a back box in decent condition. I cut it about a foot in front of the back box from memory. I can take some photos tomorrow if you like.
I'm in Dursley, halfway between Bristol and Cheltenham if that's any good to you.

Photos added above. All feels solid enough. Removed because the exhaust had a small crack on one of the welds further forward so I put on a noisy 'ebay exhaust' last year.

Thanks for digging this out and sending the pics.

An overly-loud exhaust is exactly what I'm trying to overcome at the moment. I bought my car with a modified back box on it which sounds great if you're intentionally going for an enthusiastic drive on the twisties, but on long motorway drives it's a lot less pleasant! I know everyone whines about the stock exhaust being too quiet, but at the moment I can't justify nearly £1k for one of the supposedly quieter aftermarket exhausts (Eisenmann Sport / Remus Street Race), especially without having heard one in the flesh first. Hence I'm looking to resort to stock to see how I find that.

A coupe of questions:
• How solid are the welds of the pipes (engine side), they look quite corroded.
• What car did this come off? I have a 3.0si N52 engine, so want to check this will fit.

The m54 silencer will fit the n52 but the mounts are different & you’ll have to alter them to suit
Rob

It came off my M54 which I thought had the same exhaust as the N52 except that the flanges that bolt to the manifold were inverted. That said I shall bow to Smartbears knowledge on fitment.
I don't know how much you'd have to alter mounts, maybe Smartbear can advise.

The joins from the box to the pipes feel solid and there was no sign of any gases leaking from there.
