Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of these cheap units that can be plugged into the auxiliary socket and cigarette lighter then stuck or secured to the dashboard.

My thinking was to find one I could secure in my non-idrive cubby.

Cheers for any help in advance.

I looked at them but decided to go the MMI type box..if you don't have iDrive I guess its an option..I would assume poor audio output..if you just want a Tom Tom style navigation app its ok..otherwise just put yor phone in a holder near the screen?

Interesting to see if legally seen as a defacto phone..in terms of user interface? Probably not..

Full android screen may be a better option..more faff to install.

Thanks for the replies. Android Auto no longer supported on mobiles and was looking for a cheap alternative. I've looked at Dave's videos and write ups but very pricey to do it properly.

I have one, its small and discrete, in the glove box, connects just fine every time, simply put your phone in the holder and off you go (iPhone)....
Not good enough for an audiophile but as a petrol head I rarely if ever listen to music in my car anyways..
My cars in storage right now so cant get you the make or model info right now im afraid.
It was about £15

Yes exactly

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.
Yeah they look like they would work quite well and serve the purpose without the expense. I was thinking of getting one for my wife's car, as its just the basic Ford Sync 1 system, so I'll be interested in how well it works.

It was £100, I'll let you all know if it's worth it once I've got it. Might need some advice on hard wiring aid removing storage lid on dash if it turns out OK.

cheers, I'm surprised its as cheap as that! It might be a bit large if you're putting this on the dash... but I'm considering it for my other car. It will be interesting to hear your opinions.

To be fair the one I'm getting has a three year warranty and the one above is a year

Well first impressions this is a fantastic bit of kit for £100. I want to fit it in the space occupied by the Dash storage but need to work out how to remove the lid. Any help greatly appreciated.

Following the failure of my auto Electrician to turn up to hardwire this Seicare Unit I decided to just stick it on the dash and plug it in minus reverse camera at present.
So far so good, it hasn't fallen off, works as both wired and wireless android auto, boots up and connects fairly quickly and has a 4k dash cam which is excellent quality. I will continue to test it in the coming weeks but ultimately it is delivering android auto which is what I want. Sound quality is not great, it can connect over FM but I have it plugged into the Aux. My main use is podcasts and radio so that is sufficient. For a £100 I'm happy as I could neither afford or justify the nearly 9-10 X that as alternatives. Might attempt to fit the reverse camera if I'm feeling brave. 😱
