Stalling problem

So recently when the weather has turned colder here the M Roadster will stall (or nearly stall) on start-up after sitting in the garage all night, or even after sitting in the lot at work for the day. I took it to the dealer and they said there were no codes, and anticipating this I took a video of the instrument cluster one morning so they could see what it was doing. Although they said the video was helpful, they could not figure out why it was stalling, so they gave me the car back. I decided to change fuel from the Shell V-Power I was using most of the summer to Shell Ultra 94. This has helped a bit so I'm wondering if it was just a fuel issue.

Has anyone else had stalling on cold mornings with their M? I looked through some forums and didn't seem to find this as a common problem. The dealer wants the car overnight so they can see it first hand, so maybe that's the only thing I can do to sort this out....

Bummer mate.

Since switching to Sunoco this problem has diminished but hasn't totally gone away - I've only just filled for the second time with the new fuel on Saturday so not all the V-Power has been used up. Unfortunately since it's -10 C here with snow on the ground, the car has sat in the garage for the last few days....

Oh well - might not know if it's the fuel until next spring.

mine did this for the first time today :(

You now have an M??????? 8)

Mine hunts for idle a bit in the morning when it gets cold, but mine's the 3.0Si

Mine did all of that then finally it failed. It was the throttle position sensor.

Now that they changed that I feel like I bought a totally different car!!

Interesting - here is the video of mine that I shot one morning before work.

On the second attempt I gave the gas pedal the slightest hit to keep it from stalling again as it looked like it was headed there.

Is this similar to what your was doing as well?

I'd be surprised if that was just related to fuel, it seems there is more to it than that.
