Stalling in Auto sport mode

Hi,

My 2009 2.3 idrive has stalled 3 times in the last month when pulling away at junctions/roundabout/crossing across traffic whilst in auto sport mode. Its only done 12k miles and service is upto date. My local BMW dealership have had the vehicle in, said there's nothing wrong with it (charging me for 1hrs technicians time), and implied I either imagined it (yeah right!) or its was my driving style (yeah right!).

Any ideas? :(

It's only ever happened in sports mode. Waiting to go. Top down. Gap in traffic. Foot down on accelerator and..............nothing. Left looking like a prat!

Does the car cut out completely or just hesitate? Obviously if it hesitates it will be the traction kicking in, if it stalls completely this is quite odd on an auto. I take it no error codes have been displayed? Switch off the traction and see if it happens again

I think I'd drive it out of sport mode for a few weeks, see if it re occurs in that mode. If it doesn't it will give a clue. You got pro nav?

Thanks guys.

The american experiences sounds scarily like mine. Engine cuts out only ever in sports mode. Have to say I wasn't concentrating on what lights came on. Restarted straight away. Drove ok straight away. Dealership haven't found anything. Ill keep it outof sportsmode to see what happens.

Quick update.

Cutting out became almost a daily event. Dealers took the vehicle in for a couple of weeks. BMW became involved and tracked problem down to software. Had complete software update and reprogramming.

Since then more I've had no more problems.

Happy days

Glad it's fixed

So much software in cars nowadays... They should come with a reset/reboot function...
