Staggard tires on same wheels?

Hi - I just purchased a 2004 z4 with 17x8 OEM Wheels. While I would love to go out and purchase a new tire and wheel package I do not have the funds to invest. That said the car still has the OEM Run Flats that I must get off the car so I am going to cough up the cash for some new rubber. I am just going to use the car as a daily driver but I do like to push it on some back roads. Would you go with a square setup of 225 / 45 (stock) or try and get a little more rubber on the back and use 235 / 45. It looks like that would provide roughly a half inch more contact in the rear. Interested in your opinions.

You'll manage slightly wider tyres on the rear as you've suggested.

Unless you're having traction issues you might just be best keeping front/rears the same?

I am having traction issues but my assumption is that this is by a large part being caused by the very poor run flats. The stock layout I your car does not have the sports package / staggard rims is 225 all around. Thanks

Isnt the OEM 225s on the front and 255s on the rear?

For 18 inch alloys that's the tyre set up I have. Not sure if that's from stock. But I love my alloys :D. OP is talking about 17 alloys.

yes stock for 18's on the non M. 17's tend to be the same all around.

imo i would say get the same all around.... cheaper to buy and dont need staggered wheels.

I have 265 rear and 235 fronts.. and lining them up side by side i can hardly tell the difference

You should be safely able to fit up to a 245-width tyre on a 8.0" width rim. I've searched online and that seems to be the recommendations, but I'd check it out for yourself.

I certainly found I lacked rear grip when running on 225-width front and rear (compared to my normal 225-front/255-rear) but that's largely down to winter vs summer tyres I think.
