If you're using CJ's guy, I'd definitely consider doing his quad setup. There were some cheap M boxes knocking about too :poke:

It looks quite an intimidating job, but I having been forced to do a few jobs on mine I'd definitely have given it a go if I was doing this now (as CJ's done the hard work), I wouldn't have done a year ago.

I saw a few of those floating about and did consider going that way myself rather the Eisenmann system, I'm struggling to justify that much money on an exhaust, the one thing that put me off in the finish is the way boxes hang lower than the bottom edge of the rear bumper both on Cj's and on the M's proper. I've just emailed Longlife to get a price from them and might even drop MIJ a line to see what they can do.

In all cases just need to find more money to do anything, really frustrating with several bumpers sitting in the garage raring to go.

OP would be nice to see some pics when you get a chance.

Richard - In fairness that's a first fit of mine photographed upwards from a low angle on brand new boxes.

When I finished it I painted in the lower half of the backboxes in matt black (BBQ paint actually) They now blend in and are much less obvious

I also squared off the cf diffuser that needed adjusting in the centre.

Here's one with low angle sun, that's about as critical as I can find to show the boxes:

CJ I know that was a very early photo and in fairness maybe I should have deleted it out of the quote, I have an M sport bumper to put on and have noticed that the boxes are possibly even more prominent with that.
I have just had a quote back from MIJ and they are a quarter of the cost of Eisenmann back, I know its a bit like comaring apples with oranges but it's an awful lot of money to save, to spend on other things :D So it looks like a trip to Walsall is on the cards at some point over the next few months.

The twin pipe set up looks really good, diffuser sets it off.

I'll more than likely stay with a standard look just need a bit more noise, where's the sound clips :poke:

Ok guys , some pics of the rear box , sorry for the qaulity but lying on my back in the cold is no much fun.Not to sure what boxes there use but have there own name stamped on them.

Same here  That shot of mine is actually on their ramps after the first fit of the new stainless pipework

Jonnyfive, your pic shows a two-into-one into the can, what is the diameter of the can inlet? Is the can design a single in/single out with a "Y" for the tips or dual out? Trying to find an equalent can/setup for use over here. Thanks.

Hi not to sure what the dia is on the inlet without going to measure it but yes single in and single out with a Y into tail pipes, if it helps makes no difference to performance just a little bit louder. And of course looks a lot better.
Its dark here now ill measure it tomorrow for you and post my findings .

Not expecting any difference in performance, but would like a little louder then oe. Good looks is always  . Thanks for the continuing info.

Just recieved the folowing from Longlife, waiting for clarification of exactly what is involved, not totally happy with the MIJ solution of the Y for the twin outlets.

Dear Richard,

Thank you for your recent enquiry.
We can certainly build a Stainless Steel Exhaust for your BMW Z4.
All our systems are tailor-made using stainless steel (T304) and come with a no hassle, fully transferable LIFETIME GUARANTEE so it is literally fit and forget.
Our free-flow systems are designed for efficiency, which can give increased power and improved MPG. Usually the most noticeable improvement is in low down torque giving better acceleration.
Every system comes with a choice of our standard tailpipes, and we have an extensive range of tailpipe upgrade options, so you can choose the finish that's exactly right for you and your car! And because our systems are custom built, you are able to tell us how you would like the car to sound, anywhere from quiet to full sport. The most popular choice is Mild Sport, which gives a slight note when you accelerate, but without being intrusive.
To design and build a Longlife Stainless Exhaust from the catalyst to the rear of the vehicle in the quad configuration as per your request, would cost £950 (including fitting and VAT).
Hand-building and fitting your custom made system takes approximately 5 hours by appointment at our Local centre in Ayrshire.
We also offer a wide range of other products and services such as MOT, Servicing, Body Repairs, Alloy Wheels, Tyres & Performance Upgrades.
When you arrive and before work commences, we will agree and confirm the final details of the system design.
After work is completed, every exhaust undergoes a thorough twelve point quality check, to ensure complete reliability and performance.

Please call me on 0844 357 0061, to book an appointment or discuss your requirements further.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Regards

Faz

A Bag of sand......ouch

Just one warning dont believe all the hype, if you go ahead just think of sound and looks ignore the rest.

Iam sure for a similar system MIJ are alot cheaper i may be wrong . I would check with both about exactly want you want and then check the price.

I would expect both company's could build you exactly to your specs.

A few of us have used MIJ myself twice and always been pleased with the result i not to sure about the over company so carnt really pass judgment.

A cheaper option if you are going for quads is a second hand M-system off ebay as a few have done on here ,there come up quiet regular.

Even at a bag of sand its still cheaper the Eisenmann back box and Quad convesraion I was considering (A tee off the rear box as M Style and MIJ will do), like I have said I have asked for them to confirm exactly what they will do for the money, I did consider the M system but don't want the boxes below the bumper line, I'm not bothered about the sound I asked both companies to quote maintaining a OEM sound and look.
MIJ is a back box while Longlife is quoting for a catback system though not sure just how much more work that involves (Longlife are also just up the road and MIJ is 500mile round trip).
At the end of the day I'm not going to rush into anything and make sure I get what I want.

Incapatable the inlet is 2" or 50mm the same for the outlet into the Y
Thanks for getting down on the cold ground to measure.
Wow, 50mm single inlet diameter seems very small. My duals measure 48mm diameter each (07 3.0Si). I have been trying to decide between a single 63mm dia inlet or 57mm dia, thinking that the 57mm might be to small/restrictive for the higher rpm range.
