Off to Cornwall on Monday. Staying in an apartment in the centre of St Ives for a week..

Apart from doing the Tate and Hepworth I don't really know what we will be doing apart from the usual local touring about and enjoying some good food and drink in the evenings.

Any recommendations ? :)
 
Make sure you drive the coast road down to lands end. Not the perferct width for a Zed but still a realy nice summer drive.

Plus get to the Minack Theata, it's one of lifes great joys You need to book, so take a look here.

The Gurnard's Head Inn at Zennor is one of our favourite pubs. We'll worth a visit - on the coast road to Lands End.

Very envious, St Ives is the best place in the UK.

It's just lovely down here at the moment, not a drop of rain since Thursday. Nice and still for a change too, just wonderful.
 
Thanks all. Just re-read your thread Ruby, I hope it's not going to be too busy, but inevitable I guess for this time of year.

Leaving this afternoon and staying in Taunton tonight, then on to St Ives in the morning. Should arrive around lunchtime.
 
went a few weeks ago - a real gem of a place to go in the UK. We stayed in the Tregenna Castel hotel up at the top of the cliffs. Usual tourist stuff. Boat ride looked good but we didnt have time. We had really good food here: http://www.caffepasta.co.uk/
 
Arrived. Clear blue skies and weather blisteringly hot. Apartment fantastic.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan are worth a trip if you're wanting a nice walk too! And the farm shop is run by a very good friend of mine!

I'm going down on Friday morning for a long weekend; first trip back to Cornwall since university 4 years ago. I miss it so much! Nothing clears a hangover like the Cornwall sea-breeze :lol:

So I found out this morning!

Bit dull this morning, off to fill up the zed - 15 mile round trip to the nearest petrol station from St Ives.
 
If you fancy a walk there's a nice coastal walk to Carbis bay. Bit steep in parts but should be manageable. I was very impressed with Carbis bay beach.

And you can carry on that path all the way to Porthkidney Beach and the golf course. A good walk, great views back to St ives and out to Godrevy Lighthouse. Last time we were down there there were dolphins just off the beach.

Am still very envious of you. Have a great time.
 
My favourite part of the UK.
Whenever I get down there I always go to Lizard point which I think is one of the most peacefull places I have ever been and then after a cuppa or 2 in the cafe head on back up to the village for a pub meal in the "Top House Inn" :thumbsup:
 
I'll just put it out there.... Skinners brewery are based in Truro. They do a brewery tour for about £8, which includes an open bar at the end of it... or £12 with a home-made pasty to complement the open bar!

Trust me, in my experience the pasty is always required :rofl:

When I was younger, I was a building labourer and helped lay the floor in there. Wheel barrowed a lot of ready mix into there!!
