Squeaky seats

Any one else suffering from squeaky seats. They seam to be rubbing against the rear bulkhead. Thinking of covering it with something.

I do too, but I'm talking about a few mm. Simply set the electics up to almost touching when occupied. Manual probably not quite so fine adjustment but it won't affect driving pleasure.

mine are exactly the same... when they touch the roll bars.. i would have thought the electric seats would be set so they couldnt go back that far

I find dropping the seat down a little gives it a few mm from them so to they dont touch.

That would be a bit of a compromise and difficult to limit the movement. Some may need the base forward but recline the backrest further. Others need the base right back, but have to accept the backrest more vertical.

More annoying are the inherent squeaks in the m sport seats around the squab and side control panel that took me ages to root out and fix.

When I got my M delivered, the first repair was by the dealer to replace the back cover of the seats. Delivery people jammed it against the back and it damaged the back cover of the seat.

I now ensure that the back is always free of rubbing as I know it will rip through your cloth rear cover.

Then surely just move the seat forward a few mm so it doesn't touch??

Had the same problem and as CJ just moved them forward slightly so that when I sit in the seat it doesn't touch the back. Also had the passenger seat belt clip rattle when the seat wasn't occupied. Found black felt pads in B and Q to put on furniture to prevent it scratching wood floors - used one of these on the back of the clip, problem solved.

OOOOH, please explain. Mine squeak by the side controls and sometimes if you shift around just right getting *in* the seat, there is a "pop" from the center of the seatback. Something I can do or can I tell the dealer what to do when I take her in for her state safety inspection (still under warranty)

Top! cj, how did you fix the squeaks? Mine started after a service and I thought they had simply greased them too much and they were rubbing. If it's easy, I'll try it. If not, she's still under warranty.

On mine I found there was a missing small plastic sleeve over one of the rear hooks where the seat squab locates. I quickly fabbed one up from 1/2" of clear plastic tube. Job almost done.

I also had an issue with the side trim rubbing on the side of the seat, so removed it and trimmed a few edges off and all fixed.

Frankly I'd do it under warranty as you'd need seats out and a lot of messing around to do it.
