Squeaky Seat

My first weekend of Z4 ownership and it's going well!
However, the drivers seat has an annoying squeak coming from the trim on the side of the base with the seat controls on. I want to remove it, clean it up and put a bit of grease or silicone on the mounting points, bit can't see how to get it off. The screw at the back of the seat it obvious, and there seems to be a blanking plug at the front which doesn't want to move.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

James

maybe this is because your seat is touching the rear plastic behind the seat. :) My Zed also makes a squaky sound when I sit in the car because of the parking brake engaged :)

Mate,
got exactly the same thing on mine - i think it's the leather rubbing on the palstic control panel so going to try and attach some anti-squeak material between the two.
Easy test is to put something soft like a cotton t-shirt between the two and see if that makes a difference?!

Firstly disconect the battery
slide the seat forward undo two bolts at the back
slide the seat back prise off the bolt covers with a flat blad screwdriver and undo
then unplug the leads underneath - the plug casing slides to the side to realease

If it's an electric seat you will have to drive it back and forth on the motors until you have the bolts out as suggested above, then centre it and then disonnect the battery BEFORE releasing the harness. If you take the harness off with battery connected and turn on the ignition you'll activate an airbag warning light.

The airbag warning light is already on (from moving the passenger seat all the way forwards to clean underneath it), so I don't need to worry about it coming on now! I'll get it reset once I've solved the seat squeak.
Tried some fabirc tape between the leather and plastic today and much of the squaking has gone. The rest seems to come from near to the join wit the seat base and backrest. I'll do some more investigating on the weekend.

Thanks everyione for the advice.

Mine do that too.

I found having it right down stopped it, but sometimes it comes back, so I raise it up a few mm, then press down again and hold it for a sec after it's fully dropped and it goes away.

Probably just needs some ptfe grease somewhere inside the hinge of the bottom/back parts of the seat.

If you give them a good check over/grease I'm sure they will be fine once back in :D
