Squeaky passenger seat

I quite often drive alone, however gave someone a lift down to London from the Peak District on Monday and noticed a lot of creaking coming from my passenger seat that was rather distracting. Anyone have a similar issue and any tips on what to do about this?

I had the same problem two days back
Try just to move (forward/back) the seat a little bit. Hope is simple as that

Position of the seat forward/back up/down etc can eliminate squeaks and rattles, check seat belt position too. Also if seat is hard against plastic panel at rear. Rattles in my car were tracked down to the wind deflector panels between the hoops. Also the windscreen trims are prone to rattle as they seem cheap and nasty. BMW quality1

i had this and moved the seat forward as others have said, it was the same as you, it only happened when someone was in the seat.

it's stopped now, i've not tested it with a real heffer though...

Well the passenger was a lean 6'2" male ( :) ) and from reading another thread today re tall men in Zeds, I guess moving the seat forward to eliminate this noise in such a scenario would be difficult. Hmm

You clearly weren't a child of the 80's otherwise you'd remember the Golf advert which identified the source of the passenger seat squeak as the ear-rings the sleeping passenger was wearing

Tell him not the wear them next time.

Oh but I was a child of the 80s, missed that one... Didn't like having a squeaky seat, sounded like it needed an oiling somewhere..

Ah yes Guiseley, I do remember that one. In my experience the final quote re VW reliability is someting I have to agree with. Had my Polo 8 years and its never squeaked. Although I suppose, in all that time its never quite made me squeak like the Zed has (esp that Sport button  :driving: )!
