Started getting a pretty minging brake squealing noise during the last few metres of stopping the other week. The pads still had a bit on them but were probably starting to go, so I changed them over the weekend and greased them nicely and the noise is still there. Obviously the pads need to bed in and sit flush with the disk but I'd have thought that should be done by now (driven about 100 miles since changing them).
One thing i've noticed is a pretty rough/jagged lip running right the way round the edge of the disk, presumerably where the pad doesn't sit flush to the edge so wears away slightly inside the disk. The disks are otherwise fine and shouldn't need changing for a while. Is it likely the lip is causing me the problems, and if so is it worth taking a file and sander to the disk and filing the lip off so it's all flat and smooth again?
