Squeaking Window

Glad you found it.
You do well replacing the foam. It's of course more than insulation ans is a waterproof membrane that too many people don't replace correclty and wonder why it then leaks.

Out of interest how much was it and the butyl (I think) seal?

Can't believe how much water runs down the inside of the door, could see it as i had the door card removed and the insulation was in tatters :o

It was about £12 from partsauction.com, so a little cheaper than dealer (normally about £15 i think)

I used a sylicon sealent (tried it first on the old foam and it adhered well)

That black sealant's a nightmare! don't get it near your jeans! :(

This happens to both doors on mine. Fortunately, its usually just one at a time so I can still get in somehow... Can it be cured with a bit of lube?

LOL mine does this too! Just in the past couple of days though due to the warm weather I guess.

Silicone spray? Could someone link to a suitable product so that I don't end up buying the wrong thing?

Thanks

If i leave my z4 in the sun my passenger window does exactley this!

Obviously due to parts expanding etc and is ok when not left in direct sun ie 99.9% of the time here in the UK! So im not worrying about it.

Funnily enough the other day when the car was left in the sun my drivers door handle outside wouldnt unlatch the door so had to climb through the passenger side..... It was fully working when i got home and not had any probs since...

Put it down to me not pulling hard enough, this happend to anyone else??

Thread Revival!!!

Just for you information my passenger window lifting mechanism/regulator eventually failed and needed a new one. Easy DIY job however and down £125.

Anyone? :( At the minute im using window cleaner in the seal twice a week to stop the squeak... but im pretty sure its starting to scratch the window :(

I've had a squeaking wiindow. pax side, for a few years, I've tried silicone and wd40, neither effective. Anybody managed to solve this?

This happened to both doors on my Zed. The only fix I found was to carefully remove the door card and sound proof membrane and then spray chain oil on the guide rails, cables and in particular, the plastic guides which move up and down the rails. This cured the squeaking on my windows.

I left the door airbags in place, but if you decide to remove them for better access, make sure you disconnect the battery 1st, otherwise you’ll get an airbag warning light.
