Squeaking cup holder

My passenger side cup holder squeaks like mad, it seems to be the foam against the plastic. I have taken it out, and even outside it squeaks when I push it a bit.

I can't see a way of dismantling the actual cupholder to put felt in various places, but has anyone found a solution for this?
 
You can dismantle them, but it's a faff trying to get the spring back in properly.
You could try spraying it with a silicon spray then wiping the excess off.
Unless you're lucky and it's just the front panel catching in the recesss?
Try popping that off and see if it still squeaks.
 
I can replicate the squeak though when having fully removed the unit, including the foam so it can’t be the front plate.

When I have it in my hands, and move it about a bit, it makes the same noise as when fitted in the dash
 
Mine squeaked so filled all the joints with hot glue.

Basically the whole front comes off the main unit. So look for that join going all round and just hot glue the 2 together.

The hot glue is easily removed if you ever needed to take the unit apart.
 
Spray it with GT85 and wipe off any excess. It is PTFE based and cures most interior plastic squeaks easily :thumbsup:
