Having weighed the car at the end of last year I looked at saving a bit of weight and to further improve the handling balance to my taste. It's common for M3 and other cars to run a square set up, where all four wheels and tyres are the same size, giving more grip to the front as well as being able to rotate tyres from front to rear as they wear. I love the Apex Arc-8's that TomK has and they offer them in a square set up: http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=473674 Their claimed weight is also 8.6kg each, compared to rear 224 alloys that are 13.6kg!!!
However, at around £1400+ I looked at what other options there were.
I settled on Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2; I'm familiar with them from racing, they appear strong, heat treated and are UK made to order. I ordered them just before Christmas and they arrived last week. They are 'on sale' at Demon Tweeks for £900ish, a little more or less elsewhere. I have opted for anthracite gloss, 18" x 9", ET35 for all 4. I chose 9 inch rather than 9.5 so that I didn't have to run more camber to get them to fit at the front, I didn't want to alter the geometry. To get the spacing ideal at the rear it will use 12 or 14mm spacers. I could have altered the offset for the rear pair to do away with spacers but then I wouldn't have been able to rotate them. They are light at 9.7kg and would have cleared the APs too. I quickly test fitted them whilst finishing off the inspection 2 service.
Frustratingly I will never know how they would improve the handling balance, how they would look or if I could feel the reduction in rotating weight as my car will be up for sale next week, as will the alloys.

A few of the parts used in the Inspection 2, gaskets and plugs not shown here.
