Spun a yarn?

I'm in need of your expert views as I'm not sure I've been told correct information. I'm not very knowledgable about how cars are put together and work outside of where to put the petrol and oil in and how to hoon. Apologies up front for the length of this post.

I recently purchased a Parrot MKi9200 from Halfords and booked an appointment with their mobile fitters - Hyde Park Corner. The fitter duly arrived today for the appointment at 4:50pm and we had a conversation about where I wanted everything - the Parrot screen located bottom middle of the two central vents, the microphone on the steering column (just by the factory fitted mike) and the iPhone charger and aux jack cables through the vent to the right of the steering wheel. My thinking on the latter part is I use a SatNav app on my iPhone so am intending on buying one of the Brodit holders which holds the cables.

Anyway, I kept popping in and out of the house to check on progress. I saw that the fitter had put the Parrot screen to the right of the two central vents. On challenge he said that the cable was too thick to fit in the gap between the vent and the stereo. This sounded plausible although I've since wondered why the cable couldn't be fed through the bottom vent. I also spotted that he'd put the microphone next to the Parrot screen and not where we agreed - he did move it after I supplied him another sticky pad!

Finally, he said he'd finished. It was after 6pm and I was midway through the family evening meal. I noticed that he'd not fed the charger and aux jack cable through the right hand vent. He initially said he misunderstood what i'd wanted and he'd fitted them in the glove box. When i said this wasnt what i wanted or asked for, he told me that the plastic moulds on the plugs were too big for the vent. I looked at them and said this surely wasn't so. He then said he couldn't fit the cables through to the right hand vent as the vents are sealed and he couldnt get access.

The fitter had the look of someone who just wanted to go home and the thought of dismantling the dashboard again clearly didn't appeal. My very short question after this long post is - have I been spun a yarn; is access to the right hand vent not possible because it's sealed?

My lovely piano black dash is also sporting a couple of small marks where the fitter has prized the stereo out. So all in all, I'm not feeling great about the experience. Is the fitter right or do I need to get them back out?

I fitted a mini-usb cable up to that vent for my Road Angel. I drilled a small invisible hole in the vent (internal) ducting to feed the cable neatly. I'm sure it would be possible to do without as the internal ducting simply butts up to the vent in the bulk head, however I was limited on cable length and also didn't want to trap the cable to give rise to chafing.
I'd say therefore if he wanted to do, he could.

If you pull off the dash panel, you should have access to the area, but the light control module is in that area too, with lots of sensitive cables, so could get a bit complex, but do-able

Perfectly do-able. I have a micro-USB cable coming through there for my Satnav. I'd definitely get on the phone and complain about the damage to your fascia.
