Springs - standard, M-sport or Eibach??

I have heard the dreaded clanging from the rear offside corner and am guessing a rear spring has gone. :(

I could just replace both rear springs with standard springs but I am in two minds as to whether to change all four while I am at it. :?

Those that have upgraded to the Eibach pro springs - how have you found them? Any lowering issues? Improved ride? Worsened ride? I realise they lower the car by around 30mm - have you had any issues with speed bumps or ramps?

Am I right in thinking I could replace with the m-sport springs? Any point in this? Any opinions on these springs?

All thoughts welcome.

If your car is a 3.0i then it should already have the m-sport springs shouldnt it?
IIRC the sport suspension (M suspension) was an option. The sport suspension package also came with different wheels from the standard suspension. I don't remenber what wheels were what for that year. The Eibachs should drop a standard suspension approximately 30mm or a little more while a car originally set up with the sport package will drop approximately one-half that amount.

M sport suspension has always been standard on the 3.0i in the UK .(not that Broaders states he has a 3.0i)

Can't comment on changing springs but my M sport set up is just fine on speed bumps and comfort. Not sure I'd want to drop it another 15mm though

The badge on the side of the car in his signature looks like a 3.0i...

Sorry for the confusion, yes I have a 3.0!

I had not realised I had the M-sport suspension

I am sure there a couple of members with Eibachs fidded, just wondering how they get on with them. If they are no better, I will just stick with the m-sport springs.

Thanks,
Richard

I'm running Eibach's on the M Sport Suspension on 04 2.5SE, I have done about 2500 miles since changing the springs and have found that it's taken the edge off the harshness of the ride which makes it just a little bit more comfortable on a long trip IMO.

I have not had any problems with it being a bit lower, however I did have to have a 4 wheel alignment carried out as the car seemed to sitting incorrectly after the springs were fitted.

Some of the American posters have commented that they found the ride bouncy after changing the springs but I can't say I've noticed it.

Do a search there are a few threads on this subject already on the forum.
