Springs in the boot?

In the boot I have two springs (one either side) that are not attached anywhere, should these springs be attached to the posts pointed to by the red arrow. Dont want to just attach them incase my boot refuses to open because they become jammed or something.

its correct how it is.
That spring pushes against that knob when the boot shuts and I think it's what pops the boot up an inch when the boot catch unlatches.

Thanks for that, I was just thinking up ways to pull them over the posts lol

Other people have done the same and manged to hook the springs to the post , close the boot lid and they break, as above its how they should be
