Spring Inspection

I'm new to this forum - I am shopping for a used E85. I noticed that many people are reporting rear spring issues. My question is can you reasonably inspect the rear springs before buying a used Z4??
I've downloaded the very comprehensive used car inspection list from this forum - thanks to whomever posted that.
Also I had an 05 E85 on a 50,000 lease - it did not have any spring issues.

Thanks,
Andy

njzangle, welcome to the forum...
It's the rear springs that breaks and usually right at the bottom of the spring. You might be able to inspect the spring from the rear of the car with a mirror mounted inspection tool and a flash light or what you call a torch. Also, it should not be unreasonable to have the car inspected by a professional as a condition of purchase.

As said I wouldn't lose too much sleep over the springs. But no harm in getting an inspection done.

Thanks for the info - The dealer just accepted my offer on a 2008 3.0si. The springs looked fine - the vehicle had low mileage 32K. I'm looking forward to accepting delivery later today.
