I've always thought this was forum myth myself.

A) It would be much easier to simply search Autotrader than forums
b) My plate is on view every day

I never block mine but out of respect would block others just in case they feel differently

Guys, there is some truth in this, i'm ops director for HPI and deal with cloning every day, there is more chance of getting the info from other places, but the best advice is don't make it easy . These are the places where they'll get the info for the less complex cloning, generally to avoid fines etc, they will just look for a picture on the net, yes more chance on a sale site, but its good practice to hide the first 4 digits, trust me, trying to explain that the black z4 with your plates doing 120 on the m3 wasn't yours is not simple !

It's simple, I've never been known to do the M3 at less than 140mph, so it obviously couldn't have been me :P

I won't be putting my reg on public view again after watching the Car/Cop programme on BBC1 tonight and seeing how much hassle it brought :x

There's a black '07 Z4C about in Huntingdon I've seen a few times now. Its slightly irritating because one of the reasons I bought the zed was because they're a wee bit rare - especially compared to the roadsters, or stuff like TT's and S2000's. I'd never seen another coupe in Huntingdon or on our commute to Cambridge until the week after I got it home, then low and behold I drive past a near identical one which I've then seen over and over again :x

Same thing happened with our previous two cars although they are considerably more common. A red Focus and a red Puma :- both of them we'd seen loads of in silver, grey, black etc etc but very few in red. Until we bought one :- then we'd see red ones every 30 seconds it seemed.

I agree, if someone wanted to clone any car, sit in a motorway services for long enough and find a few number plates to choose from. I think a decent or distinctive private plate makes it less likely that someone would clone your car..... dont know why, I just think so. Anyway, this is now a bit far off topic so Ill shut up before i get into bother

Very nice carbon black (I think) MC in Caversham this morning, 7:30ish - opposite Costa. Only the second MC I've seen around that area.

Hello to the chap in the interlagos MR I passed on the M1 yesterday morning. Nice acknowledgement as I passed. Cruising in the middle lane in an MR though...sort it out!

spotted a red coupe, not sure if it was an m or not, travelling north on the a1 a few junctions past the metro centre at 08:15 today

also spotted last night, young guy in a new white z4 heading south on the a1 at about 17:15 past the team valley
