Spotted on eBay - More CSLs

£1400 not too bad with four good tyres, but the idea of cash on delivery only in Birmingham strikes me as risky.

Someone on here might want to take the chance and go up with a couple of beefy mates...

Well, it's Coventry not Birmingham - and they look to have decent tyres on them (Michelin Pilots of some sort).

However, I simply will not buy anything from an advert that starts with "Here we have for sale..." :P

I've bought loads of items cash on collection... met in some really dodgy places too - like Birmingham

Those look like a good buy to me.

Loving the Birmingham comments :)

I live 10 miles from there and never had any issues with eBay purchases or general hassle

You guys must look the sort that attract scammers?

Either way another set of CSL's to tempt me!

It makes me chuckle - the comments, about Birmingham.. :?
Strewth, we are not talking the deepest, darkest depths of the east end of London here!
Anyway, they are in Coventry - and in parts, that can be bit dodgy!

The cash only thing, is something to to a little weary of IMHO..

Best of luck to someone though..

In general, I've not had problems buying from Birmingham & its environs either.

Only ever had one issue when I went to buy a set of 'refurbished' genuine BBS track wheels for my e34 M5, in Aston

Arranged to pick them up between 12 & 1pm, got to the house at 12:05 to be told that he'd gone to work because I was late :?

Called the guy up and got him to check the email I'd sent with the times, to which he agreed it said 'between 12 & 1', but didn't seem to understand that it didn't mean I'd be there BY 12 and stay UNTIL 1.

So he got me to wait around a while until he could get back from work, which was supposedly 5 minutes away. By the time he arrived it was 1:30 as he'd had to stop on the way for lunch :headbang:

Finally got the wheels out of the garage, and they were in a terrible state. His excuse was they they'd been refurbed (by his blind granny by the looks of it) and then put in the garage. But they'd been left there for 2 years until they found them again and decided to ebay them.

Told them I wouldn't be going through with the sale and I drove the 100 miles back home.

The set I eventually bought for the M5 came from just around the corner, were properly refurbished (black with polished rim) and were cheaper.

I love this self-protection technique Stuart - find CSLs on eBay, post link on Forum, hope some other person has the 'ooooh shiny' moment before it becomes to much to bear

I always go by ebayer sellers feedback than location

Just seems to make more sense, no?

What if the feedback is from people from Birmingham... so are used to that sort :o

I just don't fancy rocking up with £1400 worth of folding. Cheltenham, Ascot or Coventry. I'd take the seller to the bank after agreeing the sale, or take a burly chum along. FYI my brother lives in the arse end of Birmingham, has lived in Coventry and that's why I'm wary. I've seen his neighbours! :o :)

They will fit but will be very tight in the rear arch. I think they are the same fitment offset as the stranded m3 wheels ( someone will correct me if i am wrong ) Check the picture of my car below.

There will be slight rubbing even on standard suspension.

Will these fit my 2004 2.5 Z according to advert......just put my vehicle in.......and they don't??

They'll fit, but imo it will look ridiculous with a too wide rear track

My fiance is from birmingham - dont like her type :fuelfire: ... she wanted me to move from Derby to Sollihul... so we compramised and seems liek we'll be moving to Sutton Colefield!

Just had a chat to the guy, The tyres don't match front to back. Contis in the wrong size on the rear, 255 width rather than 265 30 19 - not as issue but I'm picky - and Michelins on the front in the right size.

He said they have a few marks on the lips them but nothing major - personally I would refurb them so they are mint

He also said the lowest he would accept now is £1350. I ducked out at this point as considering the odd tyres and then the cost of a refurb I may as well just buy a new set.

Am i right in thinking you think my car looks ridiculous!!! :poke:

I think the offset on an M is slightly different and CSLs will fit properly. If the tyres are going to need replacing and between £3-400 for a decent refurb then these aren't brilliant value.

Its only the rears I would replace but still puts them at a price point where I would rather have a new set...

For non-M fitment 255 on the rear is best with no rubbing

265 and that's where you get issues on a non-M

With michelins having a rim protector it won't look too stretched either.

The fronts will rub a tad but if you tweak the liner you could get away with it until you need to change them, so IMO looks good.
I drove to Manchester to buy my set and the guy lived in a plush area and used to live near me in london.

Always good to get in touch before travelling.

And yes I took a mate with me just in case and paypal'd the money before driving.
Either way I was covered.

for anyone wanting CSL's keep an eye out on M3 Cutters there have been a few sets recently ranging from £800 for ones needing refurb to £1500ish with tyres and just refurbed or in great original condition.

Someone had a set of CS wheels also for around £800 the only difference being the narrower (8" ) wheel.
