Spotted in the Car Park

Pulled into our Waitrose's underground car park on the way home from work and bagged a spot a few doors away from a lovely old Triumph TR2? Looked pretty concours to me. Think she was a little hot under the collar as her cooling fan was going ten to the dozen and you could hear it upstairs!

When I got back she had gone but the new arrivals included a Z3 (fairly commonplace I guess) but more importantly a Z1 finished in Racing Green by the look of it and in superb order.

I had to drive round the car park to get a second look.......

What with my Z4 just needed a Z8 to get the full house!

sadly no pictures as the phone battery was flat as a witch's tit.......

Firstly, shame on you, and secondly you've not met my mate's Wiccan wife :poke: :P

I've never seen a z1 in the flesh.

I did however pass a lovely white Triumph TR2 on the back roads on the way home tonight. It was going like stink for an old girl.

Z1? Now there's some interesting innovations! I'll probably have to go to Germany to see one, they're very rare this side of the pond, the only examples were grey market imports AFAIK. Somewhat rare in the UK due to essentially all are LHD? Not that that would deter a collector, just as there are plenty of RHD British classics about here. Maybe more that only some 8k were built.

Slightly off topic, but the car I wished I had purchased, was a TR5

I bet! I wonder how many get driven regularly on the roads though? Reckon I've only seen one in the UK...

Sars... Speaking as one who's just come the other way, albeit from a TR6 spec Vitesse, I'm very happy indeed with my choice. I've got the sound of a straight six and open top motoring, but with infinitely better road holding, fuel economy and reliability. Haven't regretted it for a minute and I love classics....

Not instead of my Zed silly, just wished I had purchased one at the time I got an MGB, 10 years or so ago

How about an uber-rare ALPINA Z1 parked next to #168 (not in image  ) at our Notts meet last November?

A few years back a colleague offered his green Z1 for sale to me (with the hardtop too). I have regretted not buying it ever since.

Mrs Five didn't like the idea of LHD :headbang:

(When I bought my second Z4, Mrs Jeremy Clarksons Z1 was parked up in the showroom - @ North Oxford BMW. A sort of cream/beige colour).

- it wasn't for sale though...
