Saw 3 roadsters (2 with hardtops and one so dirty you couldn't see the number plate) on my way back from Solihull to Liverpool this afternoon - none of them responded to my waves.

What are the rules on waving?? I very often see z4s about but i have never waved. I don't want to look a burk when know one waves back. I have never had anyone wave at me i have only had the car 2 months.

I don't think there are any, and if they don't wave back so be it.

I don't wave all the time myself, usually only when there's enough time to see the driver and whether they're waving back or not - e.g. in stop-start traffic.

waving can often look very camp and depending which way you swing it could cause a problem, for that reason i choose to flash, er perhaps that could be even more risky

used to be easy in the MG flat cap and tweed was a bit of a give away
