Spotlights/ Fish tanks?

Hi All,

Newbie to the forum, driven here by a problem with a 2006 Z4 2.5si.

Under the headlights are two clear plastic boxes that are full of moisture. I am presuming that BMW has pimped my car with these travelling fish tanks at the request of a previous owner that had to 'check his bitches' and wanted the aforementioned ladies to be aware of his capacity for automotive design.

Unfortunately, despite the BMW manual showing me the button to be pressed in order to illuminate the fish tanks there is no recommendation for the kind of aquatic creature that can be maintained in this environment.

Have any of you emptied your fish tanks and reverted to a more normal spotlight usage. I'd love to know how to access the area, how to remove the water and what seals I have to replace.

Thanks!!

You need to access the fog lights through the wheel arch liner. TBH they are knackered if they have that much water in. BMW replaced mine under warranty. I'm not sure which seal goes I can only guess the one that covers the rear of the bulb.

You could remove and drill a small hole in the bottom to allow the water to drain out. If it's tthe lens to the case thats leaking a bead of silicone would fix.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for that. I have a funny idea that it has been caused when using a high pressure washer to get the road salt off the car.
