Finally, the search is over. A sporty looking bicycle rack for Z4, Z4m and Z3 convertibles has been invented, will be patented if approved. For $300 you will have a unique, clutter free, sporty looking bicycle rack for your Z4, Z4m and Z3 convertibles that will be able to carry up to 2 bicycles. (road bike and or mountain bike). The rack assembly can be installed temporarily or permanently with very little modification. Pictures of the actual racks assembly coming soon. Fork and rear wheel mounts not included.

I managed to fit my standard halfords hi-lift rack on at the weekend with very little trouble, can you please explain the philosophy behind having a sporty looking bike rack im a bit lost regarding it purpose?
Dont get me wrong im genuinely intrested but the way i look at it is that i have a sporty looking car, i have a nice mountain bike, isnt the rack just a functional mechanical device to allow the two to travel together?

Travel with a style not straps.

Does it come with 2 umbrellas?! ;)

Free 2 umbrella hats or 2 baseball caps to look cool and feel cool in any season except rainy days  But seriously, BIKER like me and most BIKERS knows when to use and enjoy them properly.

Don't want to stop inovation, but I can't see it taking off on this side of the pond it's just too wet, what do you do if you've been out on a rainy day and the bikes covered in mud, clean it and wait for you to think it's to dry before setting off only for it drip all over the interior of your car.

sorry not for me.

I'm just very confused as to what the market will be for a product like this aside a few people in dry regions.

Some comments raised in previous posts, but put together you have a bike rack that:
Can only be operated with the roof down
Needs the bike to be cleaned off
Has to have the front wheels removed
Does not come with any fixing or clamping mechanism
The front end somehow fits, clamps, drills, etc. to the fragile plastic roll hoop covers or damages them to penetrate to the roll hoop.
One accidental touch of the roof up button or as fitted to many roadster remote activation and that canvas roof grinds into chain sprocket
...and is entering a market where there are already products that do this job

Sorry, but I think this is a dead duck as a commercial idea, but good luck

That looks lovely but as a coupe owner i feel like i am already being lefto out of the target market, that along with the fact one of my bikes uses a lefty fork and another one uses a 20mm bolt through axel, do you have any provisions for dropouts other than a standard qr.
I feel as others have mentioned that your target market is far too narrow.

Hmm, so a muddy bike is going to drip all over the interior?!

I still prefer this style of rack for the Z4:

On a side note I wonder how it would hold up in a rear collision... lookd from the pics liek you'd end up with the front forks through the top of your head?!

The main reason I started this post is to have everyones opinion and I really appricate all the feed backs that I am getting . The rack assembly is not up in the market yet, there will be more test to do. I have already driven the car with the racks and with bikes everywhere and so far so good.

The bicycle forks are near the middle inbetween the roll bars away from the head of the driver and passenger.

It is a very neat looking rack, I'll give you credit for that. But us in the UK at least would need a rack that works with the roof up as well as down. Not something I need to worry about because I bought a van for bike transporting duties :)

Im totally lost on all that.
I just dont see the point at all.
All points mentioned above especially the rear accident concerns, but plus this;
If the fork and rear wheel mounts are "not included" how is that a bike rack?
Surely it just some metal pieces fitted to the car that stops the roof from being used!

Also,

But seriously, BIKER like me and most BIKERS knows when to use and enjoy them properly.

Serious bikers dont use their bikes in the rain?
Im pretty sure they do you know!

:o
