What are the symptoms of cracked/broken springs? Mine seems to "ping" if it goes up a kerb or over a pothole...

mine used to do that... and it was a broken spring - better to get that checked

3 posts saying the same thing, will get this looked at ASAP.
I only have about 25k miles on the clock though.

Mine had about 23k (!) miles when the spring broke.

My rear spring also broke at the top.... i had an MOT in Sept and it passed. I had my inspection 1 in Oct and they detected it... saying (unofficially) it had been broken for well over a month

Only lasted around 20k miles too

There are rarely any signs that the springs have broken. It's often just the end and so there is no change to ride height nor specific noises.

You may hear the crack as they break or clanging as the bit falls out and I've heard of the odd knocking noise depending upon how they are seated.

It's for this reason that most only find out at MOT time. I did and I now my car pretty well :thumbsdown:
