Sport Suspension photo request

Any chance somebody could show me what M Sport suspension should look like from the side?

I've mentioned it on here briefly before that I have an unusually large tyre gap at the rear compared to the front which may be down to someone fitting the wrong springs. My car definitely should have M Sport suspension and I've used the VIN number check up tool just to make sure. I am aware that Sport suspension is 15mm lower than standard.

I have since bought a set of Suplex rear springs which I will be fitting in the next couple of days. However I have just spotted a Z4 advertised as 'Sport' with a larger tyre gap on the front as well as the back, so I'm just second guessing myself as to whether I've bought these springs blindly.

It would help to actually see what M Sport suspension should look like and compare it to what I'm seeing on mine right now.

Cheers.

Just noticed this was the day my neighbours trampoline blew across their garden

I was anxiously watching it out of the window for quite a while...

I think coupes sit lower at the back, maybe it's the weight of the glass and hatch, I don't know, anyway looks ok to me OP.

Hmmm if that's the case should I be wanting to go lower than Sport? I don't want such a big space between the rim and the tyre.

Amazing how your taste changes. Those arch gaps used to look perfect to me, but now they look massive!

Ok I'm confused. To my eye that last photo looks more uniform around the wheel, whereas mine looks to have a larger space at the upper outer corner than the upper inner quarter, if that makes sense. Whilst at the front I don't have any gap.

Am I wrong?

Yeah, it does make sense. Possibly just the viewpoint of the photo - inline with the rear axle for mine and in front of it for yours.

One last question, since I have M Sport suspension, if looking at lowering springs should I be looking at M Sport lowering springs or standard lowering springs, considering it's not an M model?

Why not just have a look at your rear springs? If they're sport springs (oem ones) then they'll most likely have 3 blue paint marks on one of the coils.

It's quite obvious, so you'll know pretty quick whether they're correct or not.

My Personal opinion is that your springs have been replaced, most likely with eurocarparts specials which aren't sport spec, hence the massive rear arch gap.

The front springs don't seem to snap as often as the rears, so my guess is a previous owner had this exact problem and didn't realise what springs they were supposed to have.

Lastly, you need to be looking at 'sport springs'. There is no such thing as an Msport E85/86 Z4, only Sport or SE.

Thanks I'll be sure to check tomorrow.

The only reason I asked the 'M-Sport' question is because H&R list lowering springs for 'M-Sport Only' and for plain old 'Z4 Roadster or Coupe Only'

I think the rear sits higher because the cars not loaded.
Definitely wouldn't lower yours because of your diffuser already grinding the tarmac.
Could go up to M tyre sizes (what Mr wilks recommends)

You can use the h/r or eibachs etc on either se or m sport suspension. It will just lower your car 30mm instead of the circa 15mm of the m sport. As has been already said, clearance might be a bit of an issue for your front.

What size is your rear tyre? Don’t know if it’s the chrome rims but the profile of it looks quite low.

mine? they're gun metal grey.

tyres are stock z4 3.0 size, 35 rear 40 front profile. Eagle F1s have a very round sidewall so might look lower profile that they are.
