For me after driving most of them before the Z4, my order would be as a fast A and B road car and style:
1. Nissan
2. Z4 (35i)
3. Boxster
4. TT.
Picked the Z4 as it just looks more special than the Nissan, inside and out, but as a fast, twisty road car the Nissan just beats the Z4!
Boxster, just felt a bit uninteresting/expensive for me. TT, too boring!!

I too like the looks of the Z4 more than the others. I have owned 14 BMWs and loved all but the last one, an E90 sedan. It was the only BMW that I sold prematurely. It just didn't feel like a BMW to me! The E89 car has the two specific features that irked me in the E90. I drove an E89 today and though I like the looks and have fond memories of the marque in years past, I will pass unless I come upon an exceptional deal. I simply don't like run flat tires and can't imagine a driver's car without a dipstick. The electrically boosted steering needs work too.

I'm glad you like RFT. I have owned two cars (a MC-S and a E90) with RFT and didn't like them on either. They became embarrassingly noisy after 10K mi and didn't transmit road feel. Perhaps at some point in the future they will be improved. I hope so. Likewise, I prefer a dipstick to relying on German electronics to tell me when the oil sump is low. The electrically boosted steering will probably be sorted out in the future as well. In the meantime I have other choices. BMW has decided to become a mainstream car company and it is enjoying success. More power to the company. It doesn't need my business, or that of other long time customers. Perhaps it will some day remember who brought it to the dance.
I have to agree with Kryton, about the rft on this Z4. After reading all the complaints on this forum about rft I was pleasantly surprised that I could detect no problems with them at all. As to ben721364, 'can't imagine a driver's car without a dipstick.' - I suppose you would prefer to have a starting handle as well! :evil:

Good for you with respect to RFT and German electronic oil level gauges. Been there. Done that. In both situations I was sorely disappointed.
I drove BMWs (cars and motorcycles) from the late 1960s. BMW cars are no longer for me, at least at the time being. Motorcycles on the other hand are a different story. BMW is again leading the way.
