Sport ride quality. Run flats or SE?

Hi, Im in the market for a 3.0 z4 and ride quality is important as I live in a rural area with poor quality roads. I want a sport model and was wondering if I replace the run flats, will the ride improve much? Or do I need to be shopping for an SE? Any help or advice much appreciated.

you talking post 2006 face lift cars?

Michelin Run flats are much better than the OEM Bridgestones but then facelift cars I believe were better tuned for the run flat tyres.

At the end of the day though both Sport and SE will be quite firm regardless of tyre. They are sports cars after all :D

Have you tried one of each yet?

Thanks. I'm looking for a post 06 car. I have tried both SE and Sport. The SE seemed a lot softer ride but I didn't know if that was down to the non run flats or the SE suspension.

Quick search on here will I think convince you that the ride and handling can be significantly improved by changing from RFTs to 'standard' tyres. The 'new' generation of RFTs do get good write up but as yet I'm not convinced. I changed from RFTs to PS2s - chalk and cheese.
 
The SE suspension is noticably softer then the Sport trim.. however imo the SE looks damn wrong sitting so high up.. but then again i also think my sport springs could do with being 10-15mm lower :roll:

I had RFT on my Audi A5 - the Michelin's on those were very good with a very compliant ride.. unlike the runcraps on my Z.
 
I have 06 sport with RFT's and the ride is bloody hard but well worth it. Only small parts of my journey are on bad roads so i put a gum shield in then. But the SE seats are ubber fail IMO. So i would recommened risk losing the RFT's on a sport model.
