Hi friends,

Ok, who can explain whatvthe sport mode works?
I can feel difference on the pedal, but what about steering or suspension?
have a 2003 zed 3.0

Thanks in advace!!!!!!!

Throttle Response and Heavier Steering is all as far as I know. Makes quite a difference though.

It loosens up the traction control but leaves the stability on if you get it too sideways, on automatic cars it also adjusts the gear shift.

There's no way to make it ON by default, at least according to all the posts I've ever read. I've also not heard that it affects the traction control systems before... as far as I know its throttle response (you dont get more power, you just get it sooner on the pedal travel) and steering gets heavier.

Shame, I prefer the way the steering feels with it switched ON..
Seems a bit silly that you can't select which way you want it to default. Ho hum!

i read that it makes the steering heavier, increased throttle and reduced traction control.

i als read that when it is off you have less power than when it is on?? and it stiffens up your suspension?? i dont know how true these two are though.

im sure there will be a genius along soon to put us all right lol

Without having iron filings-filled dampers like VAG cars have (which the Z4 doesn't), how could a switch inside the car affect the suspension?

Power boost? Sounds unlikely. The manual only says throttle response + steering (in a non-M), if there was a power increase it would say, Shirley?

I've heard the traction control rumour too, but only on the internets. Does anyone have any actual proof?

Like Raify said - Its all in the manual! Steering stiffer and More sensitive throttle peddle on a manual... Autos also shift more aggressively.

No power increase, no sound difference and it isnt linked to the Traction/Stability Control System...

Thought so... it would make no sense to alter traction control settings to a lesser level... if you're going to fling it about more, you want stability control to be better surely! lol... There's always the traction control to less or none button should you want to go mad!

Maybe the traction control slackening rumour came about because of the M track mode on the M3 CSL? It's a button on the steering wheel that slackens off the traction control a bit.

A friend of mine hated it, because by the time it intervened, you had already applied "a dab of oppo" and the combination of that and the traction coming in starts a tank slapper.

CSL also has a sport mode, which does the same throttle sharpening stuff as well as opening the induction flap earlier in the revs.

I had to go look that up... tank slapper... I had all sorts of images coming to mind lol...
LOL you just don't ever want to experience one! Unfortunately I did about 10 years ago - no such thing as stability control at that time to cause it, it was all me  - and ended up spinning 180 degrees...
