Sport mode

That's strange - I find the steering too heavy without Sport mode!

It reminds me of my old Rover P6B 3500S that had no PAS.

Whereas my E91 with HPAS is just spot-on (for me) in terms of weight, feel and responsiveness. :?

Sport mode reduces the amount of power assistance which contradicts with your findings Mr Tidy? :?

I wondered if his sport mode was working correctly when he said he couldn't tell a difference.

Having sport mode on in mine is like engaging hyperdrive in the millennium falcon!

Seems I'm in a minority. My start up routine is... engine on, sport button on, drive!

(agree about keeping it on at switch off/on... or at least having the option)

I don't find my fuel consumption any worse, I prefer the throttle response, the steering feels better and I personally find the exhaust note is sweeter. All or some of that may just be in my head though!

But then mine isn't my daily and so I only use for evening and weekend fun where I'm not sat in traffic.

I am amazed how few people use the Sport button.

Like Jamie it is part of my start up routine. I rarely do stop/start driving (except when on the M25!) so it once it's on it stays on. I think that the difference is huge and better. Have to say I don't notice any difference to the steering, but the throttle responsiveness takes from quick to hyper-speed.

I never drive in Sport mode.

It makes the throttle response too sensitive which in turn makes the intake and exhaust way too loud when pulling off.

I do not feel much difference in the weight of the steering or the rigidity of the suspension when it is pressed either so I don’t really see it’s benefit.

Even when I drove on the Nurburgring I did not put the car in Sport.

The best set up in my opinion is standard mode but with traction control all the way turned off

The problem I have with this feature is it would take away the childish smile I get when pressing the sport button the same smile I get when pressing the button to lower the roof in fact the same smile I get when turning the key my Z just makes me smile

Always enjoyed a bit of sport mode, just to get that little bit extra zip! Again, i'm not one for leaving it on all the time though.

Since I saw this post. I've been turning on Sports mode during my commute and I can't believe what a difference it makes to the car. After driving it with Sport mode on for 2 weeks, without it, the car feels like wobbly spaghetti. So much more responsive and the stiffer steering makes the car feel like it's glued to the road.

Yeah, I'll +1 this too. All adds to the experience.

What about the DTC button? I've grown fond of holding it down along with the sport button.
Great when you catch it on the limit of grip and it flies off junctions and if it's slightly over done I'm still smiling!

I prefer the sport button on mainly for the steering though although from memory a slight throttle improvement, but I don't get to drive it anymore....until I get my own

Just an update on this Marlon - I tested it out, and if you press and hold the Sport button when you turn the car off, it does remain on the next time you start the car. HOWEVER, it only works that one time. The next time you start the car the Sport button will be off. So to get it to remain on you need to hold it down every time you turn the car off, which is no different to turning it on every time you turn the car on, a bit pointless really.
I could imagine it might be useful if you're off on a trip somewhere, enjoying driving with Sport mode on, and you stop to get lunch or fill up the car, buy an ice cream etc, and want to carry on where you left off when you resume your trip, you won't need to engage Sport mode again when you drive off. But really, you'd notice the lack of 'sportiness' straight away and just hit the Sport button to re-engage.
Interesting feature I never knew about, but fail to see much point in it.

I probably should have added I've only tested it in my auto, so can't 100% guarantee same experience with a real man's gearbox, but don't think it would be different.
