Sport Button

Hi All,

Have been searching for a 3.0 for the past few weeks and I think I have found the one to buy. Car runs well, however the sport button seems to have no effect what so ever. No change in the steering weight and no change in the throttle response. Is their a test I can do whilst driving to establish if sport mode is functioning.

If it has fault will this be with the ecu or is their any kind of reset I can do. If their is a fault is this an expensive fix. Not sure if I should take the car on as I have looked at loads and overall this one is in the best condition all round.

I am going back to have a second look tomorrow and it would be useful if you guys could point me the right direction.

Thanks
Marcel

Welcome to the forum

Throttle reset - ignition on (but don't start it) for 10secs, then turn off for 10 secs, then start the car and drive off. Time the 10secs, the cars can be quite anal about things like that being right...

As for testing the sport button, switch it on, then settle at a constant speed / constant throttle position on a straight smooth road and switch it off. You *should* feel and hear a very slight reduction in speed. This is because the sport button simply makes the throttle more sensitive - so the throttle opens more for less press of the peddle. Stands to reason that the engine will back off slightly in the scenario above - at least it does on my car.

Hope that helps... When you get a moment, introduce yourself in the newbie section, and for goodness' sake don't forget a pic or two if you buy the car :D

EDIT - should say, if the above does not work and there is a fault then I can't help with your other questions, but someone on here will be able to I'm sure.

when you press sports mode you should feel the steering tighten up quite a bit at slow speeds, through town and going round tight corners such as junctions and small roundabouts.

Welcome, you will feel the throttle response alter when you press the sport button and the rev counter will jump up a bit...ready for some fun :D
