Sport Button Addiction

I'm enjoying my Z. Taking it easy as befits a recently turned 60 year old.
Takes a while to build a relationship doncha know ?
The seat has become more comfortable. Not sure why cause my weight hasn't changed.
I do enjoy the heated seat option though. Relieves the ache from those 5 busted ribs from my motorcycle misadventure.
Its got an automatic transmission.
I am quite happy with that seeing as I wasn't positive my clutch foot was up to that challenge. (Another deference to my misadventure)
Three ways to shift . I'll eventually get to the paddles.
But for now - That little button..
Yup - The Sport Button ...
Wow...
Now that is addictive
Changes the whole personality ..
Unleashes the beast !
I like it. Like it alot.
But I have to be careful.
I do have a reputation to uphold.

It's part of my start up ritual. In almost all circumstances - sport mode on

Only time I dont like it is when driving in heavy traffic, but I'm rarely in the zed when stuck in traffic.....

I couldn't stop laughing when someone pushed mine for the first time when I was unaware. I thought I was going to take off!

Nice one Bumpy, almost poetic

There are soooooo many responses to this, but I had to remind myself that I am still a gentleman at heart

I know this is going to place me in a pretty small minority, but I've never pressed the sport botton. :o Cars seems just perfect without it. :D

Surely you're tempted, just for kicks... Or does it frighten you ? :P

I May have to try it later when I drop my son off swimming. Though I gather all it does on the M is remap the throttle and I find the current map just fine & dandy. Frankly, I'd forgotten it was there.

My philosophy is, if there's a button in there, press it just to see what it does. Got me in loads of trouble, but also fun!

Go on buzyg, you know you want to. Unleash the beast!!

I always employ the sport button when up to temp, not for the full out blast all the time, just prefer driving with it on :D

Can't understand why it's optional - why would you drive in any other setting?

It's a PITA when driving in heavy traffic IMO (I drive a manual), and for the auto boys in pre-facelfits (without flappy paddles) it would keep the car in a higher gear, which wouldnt do mpg any good :(

For me the main reason I press it is for the sound. I swear the exhaust note changes and it just feels more aggressive in general. I need to do that sound gen mod, but got a drive from Southend to Wales (4hours) and back on Wednesday/Thursday. I suppose it could be a good chance to test my tolerance of the noise on motorways.

Those that haven't pressed it PRESS IT!!! :D

I use the sports button most of the time. I can't say I notice much of a difference with the throttle (i have a manual) but it makes the steering better. The car came with almost new run-flats and they seem to tramline less with the button pressed. Think I will get rid of the run-flats when they wear out though.

S'not very cool coasting at 30mph in 2nd gear in the auto either as you sound incompetent, though it's great for rapidly closing a gap that someone might want to get into :P

I think you can shift using the stick in the pre-facelift autos though ? The only thing about that is that it feels out of position pushed to the left, and a bit weird. Paddles are good fun tho

Recipe for fun in an auto = sport on + DTC on + stick into manual - 2 gears on the paddles * foot through soft stop to floor
