Splutter at startup

In my experience with BMW, when they don't know what is causing the fault it's usually the last of a long list of things they change which sorts it.

I've seen them replace the self levelling suspension on my mums E61 3 times before they realised that the wiring loom my Dad suggested may be an issue hasn't actually been changed and it turned out that was the cause of the fault all along. Doh!

If if was spluttering on warm starts then I would have said injectors. Cold starts is usually fuel pump related. If the HPFP has been done then it just leaves the LPFP.

The LPFP normally primes when you open the car, you can hear it whirring away getting the fuel up to the HPFP. Warm starts are unaffected because the fuel line remains pressurised for a while after turning off the car but if the LPFP isn't getting the line up to pressure it will struggle starting.

New injectors is a good result though. I had mine replaced recently and the car runs a lot smoother and feels more alive while off boost.

I'm pretty comfortable with them replacing lots of expensive parts with new - as its free of charge and I'm confident they'll resolve eventually.
I miss my car though!

Well with a new hpfp and 6 news injectors, my zed starts and runs like new. Start up sound so much better.

Injectors are over £200 each plus vat from Bmw! So that was £3k of work all in apparently. I think I'll be extending my warentee when it comes to it......
