Splitting 108 rims

This may be a silly question, and feel free to call me an idiot, but can you split the 108 alloys with the tyre still beaded to the outer rim? I know this isn't the BEST way, but wanted to know if it's theoretically possible should I want to remove and refurb the inner piece only myself?

I’ve never done it but wouldn’t see it being a problem.
The bolts can be stubborn to remove. Make sure you have spare spline bits and a hammer. And new bolts to go it after

Do let me know how it goes. was thinking about doing the same, since i cannot really get the tyre out myself without any external help

More trouble than it's worth, especially also if leaving the tyres mounted. Who does that??
you will also definitely strip a bolt or two.

The answer is yes. There is no difference in splitting the rim from the centre whether the tyre is on or off.

You can also refurb the rim yourself with the tyre still on by using the “playing card” method (see u-tube).

The answer should probably be no.

I split some style 42 and everything I read said to use heat to loosen the thread lock on the bolts. Here was my setup.

The heat helped… I wonder if I could have done it without thought.

There are a few YouTube videos on style 42 refurbish.
