Spilt milk :( How do I get under this bit?

I decided to take the remnants of a carton of milk to work but dropped it while getting in the car. It seemed unharmed but it looks like one corner had some damage. Unfortunately for me I decided to wedge it into the telematics bit (or whatever it's called). It was a short journey but some milk has gone down the side of the plate shown in the picture. I can't seem to remove it and don't want to cause any damage forcing it.

Anyone know how?

Seriously though, would want this cleaning cos it could smell.
 
It WILL smell. I had to remove all carpets from a Golf as there was a spillage in the boot which made the whole car stink.

Is there any movement in that box or is it rigit? I an only compare to an E85 where it can be pushed down on one side.
 
I would say removal of the panels to actually clean the milk. I would use a live bacterial cleaner much like the ones to take away pet urine smells to completely get rid of the smell
 
I spilt 3 large Costa take-away Latte's in my 2 month old 1'er last year, in the front passenger footwell. Was gutted as it went over the floormats and onto the main carpet.

Got a carpet cleaner and SOAKED the area then hoovered the liquid out and repeated. Its probably stained to hell under the carpet, but no smells.

RealOEM is a good suggestion, failing that the parts dept at your stealer can probably get an exploded view as well, and they might have advice.
 
I dont think its that easy to remove, I think the item is held in with clips below the black panel.
 
Cheers all. I have emailed a pic to BMW as guy I spoke to couldn't undertstand. The base plate looks like it should come out but it is pretty solid as far as I can tell. There is what looks like a catch that can be pressed in at the top but it puts up a lot of resistance.

Has look at REALOEM but cant find correct exploded diagram.

BMW said no way to get it off. I have no idea what is underneath but they said nothing important. I ripped up many pieces of paper and slid them down the gap where you can see milk pooling. It appears to have done the trick and after a while they came out dry. I hope there isn't a pool somewhere I can't get to.
 
There is a way to get it out, i have a link to a german forum on my home PC, will post it tonight, its not easy and the language barrier doesnt help but it can be done.

I thought BMW UK may have a better way as parts of the lower down stuff needs driling to get out :o
 
I think you have to take off the trim on the center console before you can get the part out where the phone holder is in. Hard to see how the phone holder is mounted, probably clips.

Must be possible....what would the stealer do if that part needed fixing for some reason under warranty?

Maybe ask to test drive another one, and whilst in your possesion, have an experiment?

They'd probably remove the entire tunnel/console. They've had to do that with mine to replace a small piece of trim!
