...building bloody cobwebs on my car!

Got a persistent, pesky little 8 legged scrote living near my drivers wing-mirror, building cobwebs between the mirror housing and door. Not sure if he's in the mirror housing...today he crawled into the gap at the front of the window, into the weather strip.

I've washed the car tonight and given his house a bit of a tsunami, but I bet he'll be back!

How do I get rid?

p.s. I'm a pussy when it comes to spiders, so picking him up is not an option...flicking would be do-able though!

Reminded me of a post when i was on 911uk , , ,get a drink & settle down for a read :? you,l probably feel relieved afterwards :P

The little ones aren't a bother. It's the big hairy ones that stare at you with ten glowing red eyes that make me squeal. That's why I do not leave the hood down in the garage anymore. Went to a friends house after having left the hood down overnight. When I went to leave. I caught a glimpse of this rather evil looking spider with a 2 inch leg span sitting on the drivers seat. :-o :ant: I'm so glad there was a street light that had illuminated it. I still cringe when I think of what could have happened had I sat down only to have it crawl up my shirt while on the autobahn.

Thanks for that. Thats really helped my arachnophobia!

I got a mahoosive one out of my Freelander wing mirror today.
There'll be another there replacing it tomorrow probably. :x

Had a small bees nest stating up in an old micra I ran many years ago. :?

Not a scarey as SPIDERS though. :poke:

Rumour has it that you need a bird.....then cat....then dog.....then goat.....then horse.... no hang on that was to get the fly first.

You are going to have your work cut out with the spider,it must be nice, warm and cosy in the wing mirror when they are heated.

I have it to. Well, Maybe arachnophobia lite. As I do find spiders to be rather fascinating creatures. I love to watch them build a web in the garden. I just don't want them ON me.

You could try aiming a :hairdryer: into the crevice between the mirror and it's housing. That should be hot enough to evict or terminate your unwanted wing mirror tenant. Or if it pokes it head? out or is sunning itself. A well placed shop vacuum crevice tool might get the job done as well.

Hoover

Oh and thanks bigdog - I left the roof down on my car in the garage today, and am now seriously considering whether I should get out of bed and go shut it :headbang:

these spiders are put in during manufacture, you can not get rid of them

It all goes back to when BMW owned Land Rover for 5 minutes and many of the optional Land Rover spiders made their way into BMW cars.

Well the drivers side was free of cobweb this morning (but its only early days). However, there is now one on the passenger side, and this guy was sitting on top of the mirror glass.

I like the hoover suggestion!

It's baby spider season so all the egg balls will be hatching releasing thousands of the little buggers....

Just get some of this and spray it into the wing mirror housing (you can use a straw from a can of WD40 to ensure it only goes behind the mirror) - also spray it into panel gaps etc.

Your welcome Bing. I strive to always look for ways of being helpful to others!
Not to worry though. After your morning cuppa Joe. Just approach your car slowly whilst carrying a pointed stick. Or the Hoover.
